Solar Fence Supplies & Materials

Sustainable Energy Generation

Solar fencing transforms property boundaries into energy-producing assets using Vertical Bifacial Photovoltaic (VBPV) technology, which captures sunlight on both sides for optimal energy production. It reduces reliance on traditional energy sources, contributing to a cleaner, greener planet.

Cost Savings and Tax Incentives

Solar fencing offsets electricity usage, reducing utility bills and providing long-term financial relief. It qualifies for federal tax credits, state-specific incentives, and local rebates, making it a cost-effective investment that boosts property value.

Innovative Vertical Design

The vertical bifacial panels are ideal for urban and residential areas, capturing sunlight during morning and evening hours. This design prevents debris accumulation, such as snow and leaves, and delivers up to 27% more electricity in winter compared to traditional solar panels.

Environmental and Climate Impact

By generating clean energy, solar fencing significantly reduces carbon emissions. For example, vertical solar technologies could reduce CO2 emissions by 10.2 megatons annually, aligning with global sustainability goals and combating climate change.

Durability and Low Maintenance

Built with industrial-grade aluminum and impact-resistant panels, solar fencing is designed to last 25+ years, maintaining 88% efficiency even after that time. Its self-cleaning vertical design and minimal moving parts ensure low maintenance requirements.

Privacy, Security, and Style

Solar fencing enhances property security and privacy while integrating seamlessly with modern aesthetics. The sleek aluminum frames combine functionality with style, making it a visually appealing addition to any property.

Solar Fence Supplies FAQ

Most frequent questions and answers

No! We plan to train fence companies and installers on Sol Fence installations nationwide. Our solar fence supplies benefit everyone and will be available to any certified installer.

Great question! Sol Fence was created by Sol Fence (the company that makes the solar panels) and A to Z Fence Supplies (the company that makes the Modern Aluminum fence). Both innovative companies share the Sol Fence patent. In addition, both companies provide installation training and sell Sol Fence solar fence supplies.

You’re right to ask about performance! While we’re currently finalizing our third-party verification data, I can tell you that our prototypes have exceeded our expectations. Sol Fence is a family of fence professionals with 50 years of experience (Willis Fence Co, since 1974). A to Z Quality Fencing is a family of fence professionals, too, with 30 years of experience. We wouldn’t put our name behind these solar fence supplies if it didn’t work.

We’re about to release comprehensive performance metrics, but I can share that our systems are generating significant power even in vertical installations. The data we have now, from Sept 1 to Dec 31, 2024, shows that the fence produced 337 kWh of power and offset 4.82 tons of Co2, which is equivalent to planting 179.77 trees.

While Sol Fence was founded in 2024, we’re built on a 50-year legacy in the fence industry. We helped establish the North American Fence Contractors Association, setting industry standards for professionalism and ethics. We’ve designed our solar fence supplies and system to be serviceable by any qualified fence contractor or solar professional, ensuring you’re never locked into proprietary maintenance. Plus, our components are built to last 25+ years.

We love this question! Our fence actually has a sleek, modern aesthetic that many people surveyed prefer over traditional fencing.

Both sides generate power, though one side is slightly more efficient. The best part? If you move, over 90% of the fence can be easily relocated, or you can convert it to a traditional fence using the existing posts.

We think energy bills are much uglier than the solar fence.  We ask people to go beyond surface-level thinking as this is a new solution to generating power for you and your family. New things can be scary, but we will hold your hand!

We’ve got you covered! Our system technically qualifies as an aluminum fence since that’s the primary material. Sol Fence will also make themselves available for HOA board meetings (via video call) to address any concerns.

Sol Fence is constructed using A to Z’s Modern Aluminum Fencing (industrial grade) with Sol Fence’s panels. These solar fence materials combine to make an exceptionally durable fence. In addition to the industrial-grade aluminum, the solar fence supplies and materials are installed using the No-Mess, No-Dig Fence Installation which further enforce the strength and durability of the fence.

Let’s be transparent: with federal tax credits, you’re looking at about twice the cost of a traditional PVC fence. However, unlike traditional fencing, this investment pays you back through energy generation. Think of it as combining your fence budget with your solar investment – you’re getting two solutions in one, often with better ROI than traditional roof-mounted solar.

Incredibly durable! Our first prototypes survived an EF3 tornado within 100 yards – and the solar fence didn’t budge.

The solar panels are designed for 25+ years of weather exposure, maintaining 88% efficiency even after that time.

Even if a baseball breaks the glass (which is tough to do), the panels are designed to stay intact.

The aluminum frame is built to industrial standards, and the posts could literally stop a car when properly installed.

A typical 200-foot installation takes approximately 2-5 days. Certified installers can complete 100+ feet per day with minimal ground disruption. The electrical work usually takes just one additional day. We’ve designed the system to be straightforward while meeting all safety and code requirements.

Most likely! We’ve designed our system to be compatible with most modern inverters and battery systems. Sol Fence personally recommends and uses both the Tesla Powerwall III and EcoFlow Ultra—each has its advantages. If you’re considering an electric vehicle, these integrations become even more valuable. We can work with your existing setup or help you design a new system.

400-watt solar panels can produce up to 400 watts of power at any given moment under ideal conditions (like bright, direct sunlight). Think of it like a garden hose: The watts are like the water flowing through the hose.  It’s not about how much flows per hour but how much can flow at any instant.

To put 400 watts in perspective:

– A typical LED light bulb uses about 10 watts

  • A laptop computer uses about 50-100 watts
  • A refrigerator uses about 100-200 watts when running

So a 400-watt panel could theoretically power:

  • 40 LED light bulbs, or
  • 4-8 laptops, or
  • 2-4 refrigerators

Now multiply that by the number of panels you will have in your fence.

This will depend on several factors. How much energy do you use per month? How much space do you have in your yard that gets great sun exposure? How much do you want to save per month on your energy bills? A certified installer would need to do a proper estimate for you to give you an accurate number. Call us to schedule an appointment.

With current federal tax incentives, here’s how a solar fence typically compares:

– About 3x the cost of a cedar wood fence

– About 2x the cost of standard vinyl fencing

But here’s the key difference – unlike traditional fencing, our system will save you money.  Think of it as buying a fence that helps pay your electric bill! No other fence can do this.

We’ll help you crunch these numbers specifically for your property. The ROI calculation includes:

– Your current electricity rates

– Local sunshine averages

– Available tax incentives (federal, state, and local)

– Your energy usage patterns

– Any net metering benefits from your utility

Most of our customers see significant energy savings that help offset the initial investment over time. Typically 5-9 years.

Currently, our solar fence qualifies for:

– 30% federal tax credit

– State-specific incentives (which we’ll help you identify)
